Hello again, we’re the Johnsons, The Start-Up Family.
We live in the mountains in Truckee, California which is not a big town. It is near to other even littler towns, and also the Biggest Little City in the US. But if you are like us, or like anyone, our town – the town where you live -- is the biggest town of all.
We do some things old fashioned. We do some things new.
We try to follow traditions, because they have stood the test of time. And we also try to see the trends, because life is always moving forward and innovation is always right under our noses if we pay attention.
After almost 18 years of marriage, a law practice, various startups, finance and international work – not to mention all the enterprises and ventures of our big-ish family, we decided it was time for a change.
After thinking and talking and reading we decided to break down that wall between work and family, forever.
100 years ago families worked this way. The business of one was the business of all. And today with the startling advance of modern technology; destroying geography, distance, disability, age, access, success – we think we have found a way to be both a family and a start-up operation at the same time. And it seems to make a lot of sense the more we do it.
Because the Family is the World’s First Startup. We are the Startup Family.
Think about it, what other start-up tops the family in:
We're one Chair-Man one part She-EO and, with our six "junior partners" we're all family and all business. We’ve had gains and we’ve had losses. We issue no shares and are an unlimited partnership. So far this experiment has all been worth it. We wouldn’t have it any other way.
